Modernization of the building automation of a university campus

Building automation
Our servicesOur experts supported the modernization of the building automation system and ensured that all technical systems were efficiently networked and brought up to date. In close coordination with the operators and contractors, we developed a concept that enabled smooth integration into ongoing university operations.
HVAC control
Modbus TCP/RTU for efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning control
Energy monitoring & consumption analysis
M-Bus for precise consumption data acquisition and optimization
Intelligent building communication
BACnet IP enables seamless communication between different building technologies and offers flexible control and monitoring of systems.
Management operating level
The management operating level serves as a central interface for controlling and monitoring all building automation devices, with a user-friendly interface.
Project partnerStaatliches Bauamt Bayreuth, Planungsgruppe VA Nürnberg
Budget of the project1.100.000 €
Duration of the projectDecember 2020 - ???
The modernization was carried out step by step so as not to disrupt the university's operations. Existing automation systems were upgraded, outdated control systems replaced and new interfaces created to enable better networking and control of the building technology.
The requirements for flexible control posed particular challenges: Lecture halls, laboratories and administration buildings require different air conditioning concepts that have to adapt dynamically. The intelligent automation now ensures that rooms are only heated or ventilated when they are in use.
Thanks to the modernization, students and lecturers benefit from an improved indoor climate, while the campus is operated in a more energy-efficient and sustainable manner.
