Advice on applying to become a HyStarter region
Kulmbach is a town of 25,000 inhabitants in the heart of Upper Franconia and the home of MSR-Innovations. The city and district of Kulmbach are characterised by a strong economy and numerous successful companies that want to innovate for the future. That's why we worked together to develop a strategy for applying to become a HyStarter region.The first step was the founding of a hydrogen initiative to realise and build up a network of actors. In several workshops and public information events with representatives of the city, citizens and entrepreneurs, the interests of all were analysed and combined into a common strategy. This resulted in possible uses of hydrogen technology and the advantages for businesses and private individuals.
The transport sector plays a key role in this.
By demonstrating the potential of the technology, the funding of €2,000,000 was successfully obtained.

In this project, numerous entrepreneurs could be won over who signed an LOI (Letter of Intent) to invest in hydrogen commercial vehicles if a hydrogen filling station is built in Kulmbach. This projected sales would lead to the filling station being able to operate economically after 5 years. The funding of € 2 million has already been won.
